“They are softâ€: Senegalese Migrants’ Experiences of Xenophobia in Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Abstract
This article explores the experiences of Senegalese migrants of xenophobia in the South African city of Port Elizabeth. It shows how the men largely have a positive experience as migrants despite the violent outbreak of xenophobia across South Africa in 2008. The focus on a south-south migration pattern shows the complex and nuanced nature of migration that comes from an ethnographic approach to migration.
