The Devil’s Dress

Abstract

It was a warm May Day in Ghana. Papa and Mama called us from the U.S to tell my siblings and I the exciting news that we will be migrating to America to join them in June. I remember it like it was yesterday. The joy we felt, the anticipation of the unknown. My words were stuck in my throat and I could not speak. Papa asked me to organize my siblings and make the necessary preparations for our move to America. Finally, my long-awaited dream was coming to reality. I was about to rush off to go tell everyone, but Mama cautioned that we all keep it a secret till we arrived in America.
