The Victim
Abstract
A play.
This play serves as a metaphor of real life rape cases. It is not a real life example, as the rape victim would not have been chained in the dungeon with no clothes on, and it would have been illegal for the police officer to "pour iced water" on her body or perform any type of physical abuse. However, the metaphorical situation symbolizes the emotional and psychological experience of a rape victim, one feels trapped as if there is no hope in life; one experiences the constant humiliation from family, friends, the justice system, and society. The experience is often devastating.
