About The Author

Adina Matos

Adina Matos is a junior at Binghamton University, from Brooklyn, NY, presently majoring in Sociology and Political Science. She was born in Brooklyn by immigrant parents, her father Puerto Rico and mother from Panama. She received her high school diploma from Connetquot High School and attended CUNY City College before transferring to Binghamton University. She is currently a co-public relation of the Juvenile Urban Multicultural Program and a Writing tutor in her free time. She is passionate about reading and writing and this will be her first published short story. She is also passionate about fighting global and local human rights violations through activism.

Abstract

I am dying. But at this moment that I am still conscious, I have come to realize that I was already dead. Being a black woman in American society means you are the lowest of the low. I mean, nothing; I am nothing. I have always been the walking dead. It took me some life experiences to realize it.
