About The Author

Giuseppe Sofo

Giuseppe Sofo, researcher of anglophone and francophone Caribbean literatures and performing arts, is a translator of Caribbean and European literature from English and French into Italian – Césaire, Danticat, Walcott-Hackshaw, Lovelace, Vinaver, Blanc – and a fiction writer. He has five books, and the narrative essay “Trinidad & Tobago. Carnevale, fango e colori” (Miraggi Edizioni, Torino, 2011). He graduated with honors in Comparative Literature and Postcolonial Cultures at Università di Bologna with a thesis on Trinidad Carnival, and in Anglophone Studies at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, with a thesis on Jamaican short story and language, focusing on the works by Velma Pollard and Alecia McKenzie. He has taught French language, literature and translation at Università dell’Aquila and is currently enrolled in a Comparative Literature Ph.D program at the Université d’Avignon and the Università di Roma, “La Sapienza,” studying the translation of Caribbean theater rewritings.
