The Legless Marriage
Abstract
“Never marry oku elu, especially one whose breasts are public property. For when the sweetness of her love disappears it leaves a bitter taste; a very bitter taste, indeed.”
Those words reverberated through Ndu’s head as he sipped his lukewarm beer. He wondered if his late mother had been right all along. When she made that pronouncement with eyes that saw into a realm his thirty-four year old soul could not perceive, her voice had the quiet sadness that manifested whenever his will became inflexible.
