Osunality, or African Sensuality: Going Beyond Eroticism

Abstract

So what is African sensuality-sexuality as distinct from Western eroticism? What is it before the impact of Western hegemonic influences? This article addresses these questions not just to provide a baseline for analyzing Africa's contemporary ideas and attitudes towards sex, and for understanding the different ways of thinking about sexuality within the African spatial universe, but also for revealing the logic of those practices.
