Indomitable Luisa Diogo: Prime Minister of Mozambique

Abstract


With the resignation of Prime Minister Pascoal Mocumbi of Mozambique in February 2004, Luisa Dias Diogo became the first woman Prime Minister of the country while retaining the finance portfolio, and the first official in independent Mozambique to combine the two positions. This biographical overview examines her spectacular economic successes and her achievements in politically transforming the country.
