Abstract
Doctor-Aiyk’s (Aiyk Nna-Ebue) debut single, “Life na Jeje” was released in January 2006. The album received a lot of airplays and topped radio and television charts nationwide.
“My music; a representation of my struggles
My struggles; a representation of my generation
My generation; a people engaged in a fierce
Battle of identity in the island of modernity
As alien cultures invade us and modernity threatens
Since change is inevitable and culture dynamic
We must find a way to strike a balance
And not loose out completely
Thus I present my music, my struggles, my compromise
A fusion of the ancient and modern
The original and the borrowed
The meditation of an embattled – generation”
-- Aiyk Nna-Ebue
